Looking far beyond the clubnight-by-numbers formula, the many-headed crew behind Shapes have established themselves at the forefront of the city’s scene, teaming considered programming with transformative set design and a healthy dash of fancy-dress havoc.

From hosting Bristol’s very first New Year’s Day parties – now a yearly tradition taking place across the entire Motion complex- to their highly sought-after Halloween event, Masked Ball and the annual Berlin-inspired open air, Shapes’ success stems from unparalleled attention to detail and a firm commitment to pushing the finest underground talent from the UK and beyond.

Not content to phone it in on the venue front, Shapes have thrown parties in some of the most obscure locations: 16th century churches, derelict courthouses and graveyard crypts have all served as venues for the steady stream of quality bookings passing through under the Shapes banner.

Previous guests include underground staples Auntie Flo, DVS1 and Anthony Naples as well as household names like Four Tet & Floating Points, Marcel Dettman and Magda, all of whom have shared the stage Shapes’ very own crew of uniquely talented residents: ELA 303, Thomas Kenyon & Side A.
